The value of self critics: Are humans hypocrite?

 The best part of today’s world is communication and almost everyone who has access to social media can express their views over almost everything which is rarely or even unrelated too. But there must be small annoyance one can feel when their known persons addresses the societal issue. Let’s say a politician or business man or media figure or even an influencer with good sum of followers makes a statement about exploitation, oppression, inequality etc. This feeling is because the person (politician or business man or media figure who makes the statement in reality will be an exploiter, oppressor and follows inequality. They just don’t realize what they did to their own friends and family.

For example a media person X makes tweets/comments about recent news let’s say; a community being exploited to use of certain rights that those other communities is free to do that, also no one from the depressed ones raised their voice due to years of oppression. Now the X comments on it stating, “This is oppression, they are oppressing them because they know the fact that, they won’t raise their voice, that’s why they are enjoying the oppression”

Now the person Y knows about X and perhaps victim of being bullied by X reads this, the first thought comes to the mind is “Hypocrisy” because, Y was the one actually depressed because of X’s action. Means X was also a person did oppressive act just like the news he/she read, knowing Y won’t raise out the voice when bullied and he/she can show his oppression.

The same occurs in many cases, a narcissistic boss, parents/ teachers, male chauvinistic husband. When they read about exploitation or any sort of injustice they tend to address their views whereas they fail to recognize that they are doing the same or not. Because as they read, it was comprehended that a group of people, or a social issue, whereas, the issue starts from basic human thoughts involved with psychology of oppression that he/she hardly notices. The problem is oppression means; it is applicable for in personal two people too, not just in groups. In case of narcissistic boss, he/she treats their employee and posts about political oppression outside the company, parents or teachers talk a lot of communal violence, whereas they never care about violence they show to their kids or students, male chauvinistic husband can talk or even presentation about liberty, fails to understand, his partner is free to do something.

The change comes from self critics and self-realization more than, addressing an issue. By writing this, I should myself under question, am I doing the same?? unless and until, self critics exist, changes will never happen. Comments on social injustice exist, the feeling of annoyance by Y on X’s hypocrite behavior goes on…..

If I am realizing that, I do any sort of basic oppression to someone who is has less energy to fight back and post about a societal issue, then I will know that I should not do it.
