03-08-2024       Reading the news has become a hobby since I started noticing things around me, and the feeling of empathy has hit me hard. This week, it has been saddening to learn about the landslides in Wayanad, a place in my neighboring state. Due to heavy rain, people have been suffering for a week.  To summarize the article, a grandmother stated that she entered a tea plantation with her granddaughter to escape the landslide. There, they encountered three elephants. She was scared, so she made gestures to ask the elephants not to hurt them. Remarkably, the elephants did not harm them and even protected them until the rescue team arrived. The article link is attached below. Are artist really that much depressed, lunatic, abnormal person just like their art???   "The term 'Artist' and 'Art' often evoke comments, with some linking the artist's personal traits to their work. For instance, Van Gogh's art is sometimes viewed through the lens of his depression. Similarly, Dostoevsky and Kafka are seen as reflecting their own melancholy in their writings. However, art is not always a direct reflection of the artist's behaviour . Writers, for example, may exaggerate or draw inspiration from various sources to create compelling fiction. Just because Dostoevsky wrote about a murderer doesn't mean he shared that trait. As he was in prison, he had an opportunity to communicate with prison people and their experiences.   The best part of today’s world is communication and almost everyone who has access to social media can express their views over almost everything which is rarely or even unrelated too. But there must be small annoyance one can feel when their known persons addresses the societal issue. Let’s say a politician or business man or media figure or even an influencer with good sum of followers makes a statement about exploitation, oppression, inequality etc. This feeling is because the person (politician or business man or media figure who makes the statement in reality will be an exploiter, oppressor and follows inequality. They just don’t realize what they did to their own friends and family. For example a media person X makes tweets/comments about recent news let’s say; a community being exploited to use of certain rights that those other communities is free to do that, also no one from the depressed ones raised their voice due to years of oppression.   “You never know the truth” Thinking is almost basic thing every human do but we use to distract with various unwanted stuff and don’t even think most of the time which is bounded by our actual mental state and prejudiced oriented thoughts. Let us consider a small story. A boy moves to a new city for writing exam. He enters and starts writing exam. There exists a meat shop where chicken will be slaughtered for every 10 to 15 minutes. As time passes, he could hear a breath taking sound of chicken slaughtered nearby. He heard that but still he continue to write. Again he could hear the same thing and for every 10 to fifteen minutes he could hear that and he starts thinking about chicken farming and slaughtering by human as a part of dominance over the creatures among the earth.
